Earle M. Scott - Founder

The history of AVOX Systems Inc. dates back to 1932 when, in the Lancaster, New York basement of Earle M. Scott, a small machine workshop was set up to manufacture the first tailwheel assembly prototype. It was there Scott's dream of a tailwheel assembly to replace tailskids used on lightweight aircraft became reality, and the beginning of a seventy-plus year adventure in the aviation industry.

Since its inception in 1932 (originally as Uniloy Accessories Corporation and later Scott Aviation), AVOX Systems Inc. has evolved from a part-time manufacturer of airplane door handles, brake cylinders, and tailskid shoes, to the global leader in aviation life support and safety.

AVOX Systems growth began during World War II as a contractor to the British Government supplying oxygen regulators for fighter aircraft. This paved the way for future government military contracts in the U.S. and Britain . In the early 1950s, AVOX Systems began supplying emergency oxygen breathing equipment for crew and passengers on the new commercial jet aircraft. Over the next several decades, AVOX Systems became the leading designer and manufacturer of crew and passenger oxygen systems and their components, such as oxygen cylinders and regulators, valves, and portable and chemical oxygen units.

In November of 2002, AVOX Systems became the prime contractor for an exclusive Department of Defense contract to supply protective masks for all US military aircraft. Called the Joint Service Aircrew Mask (JSAM), this custom device will protect aircrew from chemical and biological threats while providing oxygen and anti-gravity protection.

Today, AVOX Systems is an international corporation providing breathing equipment for use by not only the aviation industries, but also marine and space exploration. Using state-of-the-art equipment and techniques, coupled with visionary product engineering and a quality and customer-focused workforce, AVOX Systems is continually expanding the application of respiratory protection products and improving product lines to meet the changing needs of the customer.

With the recent acquisition by Zodiac, AVOX Systems became the world's leader in aviation oxygen systems overnight. Today AVOX Systems provides complete solutions for all aviation oxygen needs.
